The 31st edition of the prestigious Czech Press Photo journalism competition is presented in the New Building of the National Museum, showcasing a selection of nearly 800 outstanding journalistic photographs capturing key events in the Czech Republic and around the world over the past year. On display are winning and nominated works from all 9 competition categories – seven traditional ones (News, Reportage, Daily Life, Arts and Culture, Portrait, Sport, People and the Environment, People in the News) and two new categories: Project Europe (open to photographers from across Europe) and Life in Czechia – a long-term project. The 2025 Photograph of the Year is an image from the series "Work of Miners at the CSM-North Pit (OKD)" by Lukáš Kaboň (Deník), documenting the symbolic end of deep mining in the Ostrava region. A record number of nearly 300 photographers submitted a total of 5,250 images, which were evaluated by a seven-member international jury. The exhibition also includes selected photographs from the Czech Photo Junior competition for young authors from primary and secondary schools. The exhibition runs from May 12 to November 30, 2026, and is complemented by a rich accompanying programme – guided tours with award-winning photographers and other events.
