Finnish-Japanese folk DIY, homemade butoh, DIY kabuki and obscure gags. Solo performance by Pasi Mäkelä.
An original show loosely connecting elements of Japanese theatre, experimental concert, free improvisation and the Finnish musical style humppa. In his latest production, Mäkelä brings together Finnish and Japanese traditional culture with contemporary live art.
At the heart of the performance is a ritual situation full of absurd humour inspired by the Finnish folk ritual Karhun Peijaiset - one of the ceremonies connected with bear hunting and sacrifice, which link the traditional cultures of the subarctic belt.
Finno-Ugric Garage Kabuki.
