Šárka Váchová – The Magic of Puppets and Visual Poetry
Česká televize, Prague
free entry
An exceptional collection of puppets, sets, and artistic designs is presented in this Czech Television exhibition dedicated to artist, director, and screenwriter Šárka Váchová. The exhibition, open from November 28, 2025 to June 30, 2026 in the ČT Gallery on Kavčí Hory, showcases the complete world of the beloved children's programme "The Little House on the Hill" – authentic sets from filming, cottage interiors, and scenes depicting folk customs such as St. Nicholas with the Devil, Carollers, and the Nativity. The exhibition captures traditional folk customs, including the Carrying Out of Death, the Pussy Willow Whipping, and the Summer Solstice. The interactive exhibition, complemented by costume designs, scripts, photographs, and original works by Šárka Váchová, also presents other stages of her creative work: marionettes for international film projects (such as the American film "Pinocchio's Adventures") and puppets from theatrical adaptations of "The Firebird", the fox Ryška, or "The Little Prince". Also on display are books by Šárka Váchová, including the book version of "The Little House on the Hill" and "Šlupka and Buby", which can be purchased at the Czech Television shop. The gallery is open daily from 10 to 18 o'clock, admission is free. The exhibition is closed on public holidays.
