David Macháč – PRIVATE PARADISES (Allotment Gardeners as a Phenomenon)

The opening of photographer David Macháč's exhibition titled PRIVATE PARADISES – Allotment Gardeners as a Phenomenon takes place on 19 March 2026 at 17:00 at Futureum in Ostrava (Dolní Vítkovice area). The exhibition is organized by SOBIC, z.ú., in collaboration with curator Petr Hrubeš. The project continues Macháč's long-term photographic series dedicated to the phenomenon of allotment gardening – vibrant photographs capture the distinctive world of Czech allotment colonies and their inhabitants. Macháč has been working on this subject since 2006 and the project remains open-ended. Futureum is housed in reconstructed industrial buildings of a coal tipple and coal mill, which have been a national cultural monument since 2002.
