The Queen Johana of Rožmitál Festival commemorates the significant historical events connected to Rožmitál. Johana was the second wife of George of Poděbrady. This year the festival takes place on Saturday, June 20th, and the entire town and surrounding area will participate again, along with schools, theatre performers, knights, and local associations. Now in its 23rd year.

About the venue: Rožmitálský zámek

A Renaissance château on the site of a medieval mud castle built in the 13th century by Oldřich of the Buzic dynasty. Its current form dates from 1559-1564, when Florián Gryspek had it rebuilt; from 1623 it served as the seat of the Prague Archbishopric. It has been a listed cultural monument since 1958. The volunteer association Rožmitálský zámek has been opening it to the public since 2019 - guided tours run through the summer season and the courtyard hosts cultural events, including an open-air cinema.
