On the shores of Golden Pond, an elderly married couple spends the summer. Norman, a perpetually grumbling, impractical, and forgetful retired professor, and his understanding wife Ethel, who cares for her husband and home with unfailing grace and dignity. The arrival of their daughter Chelsea with her partner and his stubborn son Billy helps Norman suddenly shake off his lethargy and surprises everyone with his example: "It's never too late to start living again, even the most ordinary life."
