The Bird Parliament
After its world premiere, a series of sold-out Prague performances, and a year-long tour through France and Belgium, the production by Divadlo bratří Formanů returns to the Czech Republic.
An allegorical story inspired by the work of Persian mystic Fariduddin Attar (1145–1221) follows birds embarking on a pilgrimage in search of a new king and the meaning of all things. Actors and dancers from many corners of the world journey not only through unknown lands but also through their own inner worlds. The production is conceived as a journey to oneself and relies on the power of imagery, suggestive movement, and large-scale projection that allows audiences to "fly" with the bird heroes through the tent space.
Beyond costumes, puppets, masks, and scenography, the creators employ a system of powerful projectors. The performance takes place in an original mobile tent measuring 32.5 × 20 meters — the interior with seating for 334 spectators has no supporting columns, and the reinforced floor weighs 52 tons.
The performance is in Czech, suitable for viewers aged 8 and older. The performance uses intermittent light effects and flashing lights.
