Through the Curators' Eyes: Old Masters and the Šternberg Palace — Šternberg Palace, Prague

A guided tour with Martina Jandlová Sošková, curator of the Old Art Collection, through the "Old Masters II" exhibition at the Šternberg Palace. The tour focuses on the history of the Picture Gallery of the Society of Patriotic Friends of Art — the predecessor of the National Gallery in Prague — which was housed here from 1814 to 1871: which works were displayed, why the Picture Gallery relocated, and what changed after 1947, when the art of the Old Masters returned to the Šternberg Palace.

The event is part of the "Through the Curators' Eyes" series, organized on the occasion of the 230th anniversary of the founding of the National Gallery in Prague. At each meeting, a curator focuses on a selected part of the exhibition, shares topics from their research, key questions, and points out details that usually remain hidden. The presentation combines expert insight with an accessible approach and is open to dialogue.
