Guided Tour of the Exhibition "Vase: Symbol of Culture and Life"
Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague, Prague
The exhibition will be led by its curator, Bc. Jana Černovská.
The exhibition presents the vase as one of the longest-enduring forms of human culture — as a functional object, decorative item, and symbol. It traces the vase from antiquity to the present day as a phenomenon that has maintained its recognizability across centuries while simultaneously transforming in response to cultural, social, and artistic contexts.
The selection of exhibits draws from the museum's collections — glass, ceramics, porcelain, and metal, from anonymous works and products of renowned glassworks and porcelain manufacturers to artist creations and contemporary design. The exhibition also includes graphic art, photography, and other works at the intersection of fine and applied art.
