Genealogies of Malá Úpa
Obec Malá Úpa, Malá Úpa
An exhibition of unique hand-drawn genealogies of families from Malá Úpa, held in the Galerie Celnice. The genealogies were created by Father Alois Krsek to keep track of family relationships among his parishioners and to know who could marry whom. The work combines meticulous research with unexpected artistic value — across 60 pages and 3 large loose sheets, it captures the family trees of residents who lived in this border mountain village approximately 100 years ago.
The exhibition opening takes place on Saturday, 14 March 2026 at 16:30 in Galerie Celnice. Galerie Celnice is the second-highest gallery in Bohemia, at an elevation of 1,050 m, located in a former customs house. It serves as a cultural and community multimedia centre hosting exhibitions, lectures, and film screenings.
