Pobyt — Venuše Ve Švehlovce, Prague
Description was written before the event

An original dance performance by choreographer Jan Razim exploring the theme of existentialism.

"The struggle itself is enough to fill the human heart. We must imagine Sisyphus happy." – Albert Camus

A solitary figure engages in a dialogue with itself, lost in the midst of its own landscape. During its stay in the landscape, it searches for its lost meaning, comes to terms with feelings of futility and loneliness, and grapples with the absurd nature of life – in order to achieve reconciliation.

The title Pobyt derives from the translation of the German concept "Dasein", which contains both the word "being" and the designation of the place of this being – it could also be translated as "being-here". The Czech equivalent was created by philosopher Jan Patočka. The term carries within it contingency and finitude and speaks of overcoming the contradiction between being and nothingness: both become merely its moment.
