Cold Venus Revisited/Jack the Hipper/Valentinian Dissonance

The closing night of the season at Kafara features three bands.

COLD VENUS REVISITED is a Prague-based music project inspired by the punk scene of the 1980s and 1990s – bands like Cranes, Spacemen 3, and Kino – combined with elements of psychedelia, post-punk, krautrock, and garage. Their current sound moves in the darkgaze territory. Their new album released on the Spanish label Oráculo Records works with noisy textures of shoegaze bands like Cranes and Bowery Electric and the atmosphere of films by David Lynch and Jim Jarmusch. The band has shared the stage with She Past Away (TR), The Underground Youth (UK), Whispering Sons (BE), and Lucy Kruger and the Lost Boys (ZA).

JACK THE HIPPER is a Brno quartet mixing post-punk, shoegaze, and synthesizer atmosphere. Their songs are built on deep vocals and melancholic lyrics, moving from calm passages to intense peaks.

VALENTINIAN DISSONANCE is a collaboration between ambient and noise artists Further Down (CZ) and Skalpy z Drzew (PL), which emerged after a chance meeting in Warsaw in 2023. The project's first recording, the album Stygian Blues, is a correspondence exchange of sounds, synth loops, and improvisations between Warsaw and Tallinn – dark ambient textures and atmospheric drones mix with harsh noise, free jazz madness, and samples from obscure horror films. Two tracks from Stygian Blues were also released on a split cassette with the project Ghosts of Electronic Pandemonium on the Slovak label JDØS. Further Down is the work of David Tichý (ex-Manon Meurt, Chief Bromden), whose latest album was released by the Slovak label Weltschmerzen. Skalpy z Drzew is the alias of Grzegorz Ćwieluch, who contributes dissonant trumpet outbursts, effected guitar and bass, noise boxes, and occasional vocal performances to the project. The first live performances of Valentinian Dissonance are planned for the first half of 2026.
