The musical talk show HOVORY W welcomes violinist Jaroslav Svěcený to Adalbertinum in Hradec Králové on Wednesday, 10 June 2026. The concert takes place in the intimate small hall, designed for close dialogue between guest and audience. Adalbertinum, a historic building in the city center originally serving as a bishop's seminary, stands near the cathedral. This is one of two Czech dates for Jaroslav Svěcený; the second performance is scheduled for June in Hluboká nad Vltavou. Svěcený will discuss his music and life alongside live musical performance.

About the venue: Adalbertinum, Velký sál

The Velký sál (Great Hall) is the main hall of Adalbertinum, a neo-Renaissance civic building in Hradec Králové designed by architect František Hellman and completed in 1897. Originally built as a Catholic association house, the building has been a protected cultural monument since 1958 and is run by the city's cultural and educational company. The first-floor hall seats up to 440 and hosts concerts, balls, theatre performances and congresses, with a bar just outside its entrance.

Organist and musicologist Václav Metoděj Uhlíř combines performance with scholarly work: he holds the organ post at the Church of the Assumption in Hradec Králové, teaches at the Pardubice Conservatory, and on stage specialises in Czech organ literature alongside early and 20th-century repertoire.

Václav Metoděj Uhlíř will perform on August 1, 2026 in Hejnice at the Dvořák Festival in a duet with his father Václav Uhlíř - a concert for four hands and four feet on the organ of the Basilica of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

In 2022, Uhlíř defended his dissertation at Palacký University in Olomouc, where during his doctoral studies he engaged in music-analytical and organological-documentary activities.

In 2023, Uhlíř completed his master's studies in organ performance at the Janáček Academy of Performing Arts in Brno.
