Hypomaniac (ARG/FR/PT) • Concepción Huerta (MEX)

Hypomaniac is an international trio rooted in improvised music and free jazz. Led by Argentine saxophonist, composer and visual artist Camila Nebbia, originally from Buenos Aires and now based in Berlin, the ensemble explores memory—its construction and disruption—opening conversations around identity, migration, and traces of the past. Her latest solo album una ofrenda a la ausencia (Relative Pitch Records) was hailed by NYC Jazz Record as a deeply personal statement with an intense approach to jazz. The other members are Portuguese double bassist and composer Gonçalo Almeida, based in Rotterdam and moving across contemporary jazz, free jazz, and jazzcore into free improvisation, and French percussionist, multi-instrumentalist and composer Sylvain Darrifourcq, originally trained as a classical drummer.

The trio does not work from predetermined compositions but creates improvised soundscapes—each set is a unique landscape of friction, collision and resonance, alternating between moments of crushing intensity and fragile lyricism with microscopic structures at the edge of audibility. Hypomaniac will present themselves in the Czech Republic for the first time, and Divadlo 29 will be their only domestic stop as part of their European tour.

On the same evening, Mexican artist Concepción Huerta will also perform.
