Eliška Brtnická: Round table / Jihlava premiere
DIOD, Jihlava
from 0 Kč
A humorous glimpse into the kitchen of DIY circus artist Eliška Brtnická. How do you write a grant application at a table with no legs? How do you use a reciprocating saw to round off edges? How do you explain artistic intent in bureaucratic language?
Through circus art, the artist opens up the theme of systems, bureaucracy, and the absurdities of the creative process. She responds to the emergence of professional artist status in the Czech Republic and poses the question: what does it mean to be a "recognized" creator? She composes physical performance alongside documentary texts and AI-generated texts as a contribution to the debate on the sustainability of creative work.
The audience is invited into the artist's workshop — she shares her own experience and testimonies from her colleagues, offering a glimpse behind the scenes and into the preparation process. This is a performative statement that was meant to be heard during a round-table discussion on artist status, but did not fit the given format of communication.
