A thematic lecture focused on the culture, society, and art of the reign of Emperor Charles IV. Students will explore works by the Master of the Vyšebrod Cycle, Master Theodorik, Master of the Michle Madonna, and others, learning about imperial ideology and representative art of the High Middle Ages, fundamental symbols, iconographic themes, and techniques of medieval painting.
The programme relates to the following works and artists: Madonna of Most, Zbraslavian Madonna, Vyšehrad Madonna, Master of the Michle Madonna, Master of the Vyšebrod Cycle, Master Theodorik, Crucifixion of Emmaus, Votive Image of Jan Očko of Vlašim, and others.
