Resurrection
Following Balzac's "Lost Illusions", resident director Jan Mikulášek presents another adaptation of a major literary work. "Resurrection" is Tolstoy's final novel and the one that speaks most clearly to our time. The story begins in 19th-century Moscow and ends in timelessness, in a placeless void where all the misunderstood, the cast out, and those who fought for justice gather - revolution and resistance, passion, wisdom, illness, and utopia find their last refuge among barking dogs.
The expansive work by the Russian writer captures the social atmosphere of late 19th-century tsarist Russia while following a powerful love story. At Na zábradlí it is presented in a theatrical adaptation by German playwright and director Armin Petras, translated by Petr Štědroň.
