The Crooked Church

A recording of a theatrical performance – an adaptation of Karin Lednická's bestseller, adapted for the Petr Bezruč Theatre by playwright Anna Saavedra in its world premiere.

Through the story of several generations of one family, the fates of ordinary people come alive against the backdrop of events that shook Europe and their homes. A mining disaster, the collapse of Austria-Hungary, the birth of Czechoslovakia, wars, ethnic conflicts, and the rise of communism form the backdrop of a city that literally sank into the earth. The adaptation is based on the eponymous novel, the absolute winner of the 2020 Book of the Year award. The cast excels with Norbert Lichý, Barbora Křupková, and Markéta Matulová, whose performance earned her a nomination for the Thalia Award.
