Designers for Children: Chary Mary

This year's workshop concept responds to the theme of LIGHT, which frames the entire DesignBlok - all workshops engage consciously with this concept. DesignBlok is opening its workshops to the general public this year without an upper age limit.

This workshop focuses on drawing and working with materials that cannot be bought in a stationery shop - improvisation, magic, and chance act as co-creators. It is led by illustrator and author Dora Dutková.

About the instructor: MgA. Dora Dutková graduated in 2007 from the Atelier of Illustration and Graphics at VŠUP, specializing in illustrated books and short animated films. She works primarily in illustration with extensions into comics and animated film, as well as creating author-illustrated books and large-scale wall drawings. Her work includes comics for Stripburger magazine, the book "From Prague to Buenos Aires", an author comic on a roll for the till "Chicken Erskin", comics for Gender Studies and for publications by the KOPR and Mutabox associations, and illustrations for annual reports of the Helpline Association. As an illustrator, she collaborates with publishers Baobab, Akropolis, Argo, Bylo nebylo, LePress, Labyrint, Torst and others. In 2024, her author book Alice was published.

The workshop lasts 120 minutes and is designed for participants aged 8 to 99, with a capacity of 15 people. The price includes instruction and all tools and materials - participants need not bring anything. The workshops for DesignBlok were organized by Designers for Children.
