Designers for Children: Light Laboratory — Trade Fair Palace, Prague

A workshop exploring the theme of light, which is the focus of this year's DesignBlok. Participants will conduct experiments combining design, materials, and physics to discover how light behaves - passing through water and glass, changing direction, and creating optical illusions.

In the second part of the workshop, participants become light and shadow designers, creating with just paper and water. They will discover that striking images and original lampshades can emerge without a single drop of paint, coming alive only in light. Each participant creates their own light object.

The workshop is led by product designer Valérie Záhonová, MgA., who studied product design at UMPRUM in Prague and completed a year-long internship at HDK-Valand in Gothenburg. She works as a materials consultant at the matériO' Prague materials library, coordinates the Materiology course at UMPRUM, and is editor of Material Times magazine.

The workshop lasts 120 minutes and is suitable for participants aged 8 to 99. The price includes instruction and all materials and tools - participants need not bring anything. Capacity is limited to 15 people. The workshop was organized by Designers for Children for DesignBlok.
