Tour of the Church of the Holy Family in Řepy
The Church of the Holy Family in Řepy was built as part of a convent complex for the Sisters of Saint Charles Borromeo and consecrated in 1861. Originally decorated with simple ornamental painting, in the early 1930s the sisters commissioned the Emmaus Benedictines to repaint the church in the style of the Beuron art school.
After 1948, the building's history became turbulent. The church was closed, its interior furnishings were stolen or destroyed, and the space served as workshops and garages for agricultural machinery until 1992. Following its return to the Borromean sisters, the church was reopened at considerable expense (nearly 10 million crowns). Today it serves as the spiritual heart of the Home of Saint Charles Borromeo and the main parish church of the Řepy housing estate.
