Jaroslav Ježek's Slovak Connection — Werichova vila, Prague

A lecture by historian Martin Konečný exploring the relationship between composer Jaroslav Ježek and Slovakia. Ježek traveled to Slovakia regularly during the Liberated Theatre's annual tours across the country and developed a deep affection for the region. Bratislava became his second home, where he spent time with friends Ladislav Novomeský, Vladimír Clementis, and Ivan Ballek. The lecture will also cover his stays in Košice, the Tatras, and Lázně Štós.

During his travels through Slovakia, Ježek collected Slovak folk songs - later, as conductor of a men's choir in New York, he taught them to fellow Czechs abroad. The presentation will include photographs and period documents.

Martin Konečný is the author of the publication "Liberated Theatre and Slovakia", which was first presented to the public at Werichova vila in September 2025.
