Through the Curators' Eyes: NGP 230 Years

A guided tour of the exhibition within the "1796-1918: Art of a Long Century" display, led by Veronika Hulíková, director of the Modern Art Collection. Participants will explore the history of the National Gallery Prague through the artworks that entered its collections via purchases and donations. The tour covers the Society of Patriotic Friends of Art, its goals and legacy, the connections to the Art Society and Modern Gallery, and the actual founding date of the National Gallery in Prague. The discussion will also highlight key figures, patrons, and personalities who advanced the gallery, as well as the masterworks we can view today thanks to their efforts. The event marks the 230th anniversary of the founding of the National Gallery Prague's predecessor.

In each session, a curator focuses on a selected part of the exhibition, shares their research themes and key questions, and draws attention to details that usually remain hidden. The presentation combines expert knowledge with an accessible approach and invites open dialogue.
