Sex and Death at Camp Miasma

Camp Miasma, the cult slasher franchise from the 1980s, returns. Enthusiastic director Kris wants to restore the series to its former glory while stripping away the problematic elements that characterized genre films of that era. But when she meets Billy (Gillian Anderson), the actress from the first film, both descend into a bloody delirium where the boundaries between screen and reality blur.

Jane Schoenbrun, creator of the horror-tinged meta queer films "Illumination" and "We're All Going to the World's Fair", deconstructs the slasher genre down to its elements and reassembles it in a more empathetic and open-minded spirit. The result is a work that its creators themselves have described as "Portrait of a Girl on Fire" in the world of "Friday the 13th".
