Sex and Death at Camp Miasma

Camp Miasma, the cult slasher franchise from the 1980s, returns. Enthusiastic director Kris is obsessed with restoring the series to its former glory and stripping away the problematic elements that plagued genre films of that era. But when she meets Billy (Gillian Anderson), the lead actress from the first film, the two spiral together into a bloody delirium that blurs the line between the movie screen and reality.

Behind the camera stands Jane Schoenbrun, the filmmaker behind the horror-tinged meta queer films "Illumination of the Television" and "We're All Going to the World's Fair". Here Schoenbrun deconstructs the slasher genre down to its components and reassembles it in a new, more empathetic spirit - the result they themselves describe as "Portrait of a Girl on Fire" in the world of Friday the 13th.
