Architecture Day: Prague - National Library Central Repository Hostivař

A guided tour of the normally inaccessible technological centre of the Czech National Library, led by its staff. The repository has been operating for thirty years and houses nearly six million books, periodicals, and other documents that form a significant part of the nation's cultural heritage.

The architectural design is based on the adaptation of a reinforced concrete hall from the former Výstavnictví company, supplemented by administrative and technological sections with specialized facilities for the protection and conservation of library collections. The most recent expansion was completed according to a design by the Atrea studio.

The tour will explain how the facility operates and showcase the unique system protecting millions of library documents.
