Architecture Day: Krnov - Rudolf Larisch Villa
Mon, 5 Oct 2026 · 16:00 — Tue, 6 Oct 16:00
A guided tour of this historic villa from 1888 with its manager Jiří Stejskal. The building was commissioned by Rudolf Larisch, the youngest son of the founder of Krnov's largest textile company, and designed by Viennese architects Hans Miksche and Julian Niedzielski. The articulated house with varied gables combines Northern Renaissance and Mannerism, setting it apart from the restrained Classicist homes of other family members.
The representative interiors were gradually transformed by Leopold Bauer, a Krnov native and representative of Viennese modernism, who in 1929 redesigned the rear wing and added a new central staircase hall with a fireplace and stained glass. Today the building is a protected cultural monument.
