Architecture Day: Liberec - Forest Swimming Pool

A guided tour of Liberec's Forest Swimming Pool with architect Jan Vondrák from Mjölk studio, the designer of the recent renovation.

The swimming pool, built between 1937 and 1940 by construction firm Preibisch and Reinelt together with gardener Josef Peschel, sits at the confluence of two streams near Lidové sady. The facility operated until 2007, then fell into disrepair. Revitalization began in 2016, and four years later the Forest Swimming Pool association took over management. In 2025, a new swimming pavilion was completed - a modest white wooden structure made of spruce panels with a turquoise steel roof, designed by Mjölk studio. This year it is nominated for the Czech Architecture Prize.
