Architecture Day: Most - Home? Chánov!
A guided tour of the Chánov housing estate in Most, led by sculptor Magdalena Kracík Štorkánová, curator Anna Sejková, sculptor Pavel Karous, and Monika Vajcová, director of the House of Romani Culture.
Chánov was built in the late 1970s as a solution to the housing crisis for the Romani population following the demolition of old Most. The programme begins with an introduction at the House of Romani Culture, whose foyer is decorated with a glass mosaic titled "Wolf Poppy" by artist Valdemar Sokol, newly restored in 2025. The route through the prefabricated housing blocks places the residential complex in the context of regional transformations, socialist urbanism, and public art - and explores where media stereotypes end and the everyday experience of local residents begins. The programme includes a short dance performance by local girls titled "Wolf Poppy".
The event is co-organized by MONU, Institute of Mosaic and Monumental Art.
