Mucha Foundation Art Museum: Art Nouveau and Utopia
Mucha Foundation Art Museum, Prague
The Mucha Foundation Art Museum is the only official museum dedicated to the work of Alphonse Mucha (1860–1939), presented by the Mucha family and the Mucha Foundation. Mucha is remembered here not only as a leading figure of Art Nouveau, but also as a visionary thinker whose utopian ideals culminate in the "Slavic Epic" (1912–1926).
The new exhibition features more than eighty works from the Mucha family collection, including pieces never before publicly displayed. It is divided into four thematic sections: "Mucha and His Homeland," "The Mucha Style and Art Nouveau," "Mucha the Visionary," and "The Slavic Epic."
Visitors will see paintings, posters, drawings, books, and photographs, complemented by immersive and digital projections. The exhibition traces Mucha's journey from his early years in Moravia through his breakthrough in Paris to his role as a philosopher-artist capturing a utopian vision in the "Slavic Epic."
