Alphonse Mucha – Exhibition in Mikulov
Galerie Cibulka, Mikulov
The exhibition at Galerie Cibulka in Mikulov presents the work of Alphonse Mucha (1860–1939), one of the most significant Czech artists of the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, whose creative output fundamentally shaped the Art Nouveau movement and gained international recognition for its elegance, decorative quality, and distinctive style. His work is renowned for the harmonious combination of female beauty, natural motifs, and ornamental lines. Mucha devoted himself to posters, illustrations, painting, and applied arts, often depicting the ideal of femininity, the symbolism of seasons, flowers, and spiritual themes. Characteristic elements of his works include delicate colour palettes, stylized lines, and rich decorative backgrounds that create a dreamlike and poetic atmosphere. His iconic posters, particularly those for actress Sarah Bernhardt, became symbols of an entire artistic era. The exhibition runs from 3 April to 30 November 2026. The gallery is open daily (Monday to Sunday) from 10:00 to 18:00.
