The Josephine Celebrations are an annual historical festival commemorating the founding of Terezín Fortress, considered the largest event of its kind from the 18th century in Europe. The anniversary celebration will take place on Saturday, September 26, 2026 at Terezín Fortress.

About the venue: Pevnost Terezín

Terezín Fortress is an 18th-century baroque military stronghold built on the orders of Emperor Joseph II. During World War II the Nazis turned it into a ghetto and transit camp, through which tens of thousands of prisoners - mostly Jews - passed on their way to extermination camps. Today it functions as a memorial site and museum dedicated to the victims of the Holocaust.
