SONDA Sound Festival

The fifth edition of the SONDA festival takes place in the newly opened CO.LABS space, dedicated to contemporary culture, experimental art, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

The main hall will feature four projects from the contemporary Swiss experimental scene. Duo OSZILOT (Luc Gut and Rolf Hellat) uses pendulums and motion sensors to transform everyday objects into rhythmic and melodic structures. Drummer and sound artist Julian Sartorius works with prepared percussion and found objects, creating layered organic rhythms at the intersection of acoustics and experimental electronics. Argentine cellist and improviser Violeta García, together with Swiss producer Horo Lunga, will present their second studio album 4ever (September 2025), which combines extended cello techniques with noise, hybrid pop, and avant-garde electronics. The Swiss section concludes with Noémi Büchi's sonically intense live set combining deconstructed pop, rhythmic structures, and precise sound design.

The Czech contingent is represented by Gurun Gurun, of whom The Wire wrote: "Listening to Gurun Gurun is like traveling in a jingling spaceship reminiscent of a clockwork mechanism - and you have no idea where you'll land." The evening concludes with young producers from the Brno favu label circle: Orinoko, Nowalover, and HideOut.

Throughout the festival, a small hall will host an exhibition of predominantly sound art created as part of the Trychtýř project, which has been part of the festival since its inception. New sound objects and multimedia installations were prepared by the team: Jiří Y. Suchánek, František Hruška, Filip Dobrocký, Frída Kakao, Michal Marenčík, Petr Němec, Sára Bočková, Karolina Raimund, and Martin Schweitzer. In collaboration with the KIBLA multimedia centre, a work by Slovenian artist Tadej Droljc will also be installed.
