Commentary: Interference: Tomáš Polcar

Two systems are brought into relation. Where they meet, a third condition emerges - one that belongs to neither and could not exist without both.

The Interference exhibition presents the latest works by Tomáš Polcar, in which a collision of spatial and visual orders takes place. Polcar's work develops in long-term cycles, where motifs are not conceived as subjects for representation, but as structures exposed to pressure, in which their original identity begins to transform.

Geometry here does not function as a fixed boundary, but as a vector of tension. Forms converge toward a point of compression and then open again, as if space itself were passing through a moment of singularity. The work balances on the edge of macrocosmic order and material entropy - what appears precise is permeated by instability; what seems abstract carries the memory of matter and time.

Tomáš Polcar (born 1973, Prague) studied from 1991 to 1998 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague under Hugo Demartini, Aleš Veselý, and Milan Knížák. He has long been engaged with cyclical phenomena and the structural nature of matter, and lives and works in Slavětín nad Ohří.
