Why Don't We Kill Ourselves

Rozumov is a village where everyone knows everything about everyone, and neighborly feuds are passed down through generations. The community has been divided for years by a war between two irreconcilable families - the Šmrhas and the Průšas - each convinced that truth, honor, and common sense live in their household. Yet their children Karel and Marie secretly love each other despite their fathers.

When Marie agrees to participate in the TV reality show "Blind Wedding" after another family scandal, she sets off a real uproar in Rozumov. Karel despairs, parents rage, and a TV crew arrives along with an eccentric Swedish metalhead. So Šmrha and Průša, in an alcoholic haze, strike an unexpected truce and devise a plan to save their children from TV humiliation: they will secretly marry them by proxy.

But in Rozumov, nothing stays secret. The mayor, the bartender, the gravedigger, all-knowing neighbors, and TV cameras gradually get drawn into the crazy wedding operation, and the carefully planned scheme turns into genuine village chaos. Who ends up marrying whom? Who isn't speaking to whom? And why does the bartender understand it all best?
