Tomorrow We'll Get It Going, Darling — Municipal Theatre Kladno, Kladno

The Bartáčeks and Nováks are married couples living in neighbouring flats in a tenement building and know far too much about each other. Mrs Bartáčková enjoys parcels from her mother at the collective farm, but is pathologically jealous - and with good reason, since Mr Bartáček has a wandering eye for his secretary. Mr Novák, a film extra, has eyes only for his car, and perhaps that's why he doesn't mind that Mrs Nováková's festive wig sits crooked and they have no running water in their flat.

Neither couple suspects what the other is capable of. When Mr Novák innocently tells Mrs Bartáčková that he saw her husband with another woman - possibly even her own niece - a neighbourly war erupts, full of petty and cunning provocations. The quarrel won't be settled by a reprimand from the district council, nor by the metro construction and forced relocation. The neighbours remain neighbours even in their shabby panel block. Perhaps only a wedding could reconcile both couples.

The theatre presents a theatrical adaptation of the now-cult film comedy by Petr Schulhoff from 1976, directed by Gustav Skála - an experienced director, author, choreographer and dancer who returns to the Kladno theatre nearly twenty years after the premiere of "Charley's Aunt" in his production.
