TOOT - Phil Minton + Thomas Lehn + Axel Dörner - Farewell Tour

The final tour of TOOT, bringing together three distinctive voices of European improvised music.

Phil Minton has been active in contemporary music since the 1960s, working across the global avant-garde. He focuses on voice and wind instruments, using his vocal range to embody diverse identities, interpret natural sounds, and evoke inanimate objects. At eighty-five, he maintains his wild, anarchistic approach to music. He last performed at Punctum in 2025 with the duo Metal Breath (with Carl Ludwig Hübsch).

Thomas Lehn is a German improviser and contemporary musician working with the EMS Synthi A analogue synthesizer, creating electronic textures in real time. He has collaborated with Keith Rowe, John Butcher, Phil Durrant, Radu Malfatti, Gerry Hemingway, and Andy Moore. He is a member of the electronic orchestra M.I.M.E.O. and the free impro group Konk Pack with Roger Turner and Tim Hodgkinson.

Axel Dörner (trumpet, slide trumpet) is among the leading contemporary exponents of experimental trumpet playing. He has worked extensively on the experimental scene with Alexander von Schlippenbach, Paul Lovens, and Phil Minton. In the Czech Republic, he performed last year with Otomo Yoshihide, Martin Brandlmayr, and Sachiko M (Rachot 2024, Punctum), and this year as part of the Monk's Casino project (Akropolis, HAMU).
