Phil Minton is a British vocalist and trumpeter who has worked in free improvisation and the musical avant-garde since the 1960s. His voice functions as an instrument in its own right - capable of mimicking natural sounds, animal calls and inanimate objects, pushing far beyond conventional singing. He has collaborated with Fred Frith, Maggie Nicols and many other figures of the international improvised music scene.
