A Short Film About Love

A contemporary take on the sixth commandment of the biblical Decalogue by director Krzysztof Kieślowski - a confrontation of two conceptions of love: sensual and self-sacrificing. Originally created as the sixth part of the television series Decalogue, the film was released in cinemas in an expanded version under the title A Short Film About Love.

The protagonist is a shy nineteen-year-old Tomek, a postal clerk who watches a thirty-five-year-old artist Magda through a telescope from his window every evening, futilely trying to draw her attention. Magda has a boyfriend abroad and a lover in Warsaw. Over time they grow closer - but for Tomek, his first experience of love becomes a cruel shock.
