Lẩu: Stories Over Food — Palác Akropolis, Prague

Lẩu: Stories Over Food invites you to a Vietnamese hot pot - a dish prepared together at a shared table. Around the bubbling broth, time slows down and adding ingredients to the pot becomes an occasion to meet people who are no longer strangers.

Over shared food, the artists tell stories about what it means to carry more than one language, more than one culture, more than one home: about intergenerational tensions within Vietnamese families, about how tastes and aromas become archives of memory, about the asymmetry between what is seen from outside and what they experience within. Food here carries the meaning of memory, care, and resistance.

The project moves between performative event, collective food preparation, and intimate confession. It emerges from collaboration between three artists with Vietnamese roots: performer Nhung Dang, visual artist Kvet Nguyễn, and composer Vi Huyen Tran, and is based on Kvet Nguyễn's book of the same name "Everything That Unites Us" (N Press, 2024).

The project was created in co-production with Palác Akropolis and is realized with financial support from Prague City Hall, Nadácie - Centre for Contemporary Art Bratislava, Czech State Culture Fund, Czech Ministry of Culture, and Prague 3 district. Project partners include CO.LABS and Rezi.dance v lese.
