Troja: A Place in Green — Praha-Troja, Prague

Troja lies north of Prague and for centuries was just a small village, its greatest ornament being the Baroque Šternberský summer palace with its gardens. Today Praguers know it mainly for its zoological and botanical gardens, but the district holds much more.

The walk will take you directly into the heart of this Prague 7 neighborhood and show traces of its slow historical development as well as the rapid construction of the 20th and 21st centuries. Much from the past has disappeared - most of the small fishermen's cottages and the apple trees of the famous Troja pomological institute - yet Troja remains a green corner of Prague.

Meeting point is at the "Kovárna" bus stop at the corner of Trojská and Pod Havránkou streets.
