House at the Golden Ring: Prague in the Age of Charles IV

A guided tour of the House at the Golden Ring will take visitors through the building that stands on the site of a former defensive moat protecting the Tyn Courtyard. In the 13th century, the moat was filled in and a Gothic house was built here, which underwent several renovations over the centuries. The tour begins in the medieval cellar with 13th-century foundations, and on the next floor visitors will see sections of masonry from the time of Premysl Otakar II. Medieval wall paintings, a Renaissance staircase with a skylight, ribbed vaults, and painted wooden ceilings gradually appear.

On the ground floor, the Sadeler prospect of Prague from 1606 will be presented - a unique view of the city processed in digital form, which allows you to follow animated details of life at the time: fishermen on the river, carriages in the streets, or nobility on the promenade.

On the first and second floors, the programme moves to an exhibition dedicated to Prague under Charles IV. A multimedia exhibition will present the emperor's projects - the Emauzy Monastery, Charles Bridge, the reconstruction of Prague Castle - as well as the functioning of the four Prague towns and the creation of New Town. The exhibition also includes examples of everyday life in the Luxembourg period: period glassware, dice, and children's toys.

Note: Museum admission is paid on site - full 180 CZK, reduced 80 CZK (65+ and children 7-26). The event is not held as part of the Prague Museum, but under the auspices of the Prague Walks project.
