The heartbeat that slowly emerges from silence at the start of The Dark Side of the Moon, you know it even if you've never listened to the whole album. Same with the guitar solo from Comfortably Numb. The phrase Pink Floyd Brno now has a specific date: on November 22, 2026, Vienna's Floyd Division comes to Sono Centrum with its "The Austrian Pink Floyd show." And here's the interesting part. The band's signature is a round projection screen, a shape Floyd have been associated with for decades. In Brno it will hang in a hall that's itself hidden inside a giant white sphere. The architect of that building even says circular shapes simply appeal to him.

On stage, of course, there will be no David Gilmour or Roger Waters. When Pink Floyd played Prague's Strahov in September 1994, according to contemporary estimates over one hundred thirty thousand people showed up, and they never returned to Czechia in that form again. Anyone who wants to hear those songs live, in the dark and with visuals, today turns to bands that play them with an archivist's precision. According to both the Austrian and German press, Floyd Division belongs among them.

Pink Floyd Brno: what's happening on November 22 at Sono Centrum

On Sunday, November 22, 2026, Vienna's tribute band Floyd Division plays at Sono Centrum in Brno. The date, venue and ticket link can all be found on our event page.

Everything important is gathered on the page Floyd Division - The Austrian Pink Floyd show. Tickets are sold through GoOut, with a link leading directly from our page, so you don't need to search for anything. Details that vary by venue for concerts like this (door opening time, whether it's standing or seated) should be checked with the seller or the club at the time of purchase.

What can you expect from the evening in general? Floyd Division doesn't build its sound on four musicians and computer backing tracks. It brings a large lineup to the stage, because Pink Floyd's music is built on layers: keyboard textures, saxophone, female vocals. Anyone typing Pink Floyd Brno into a search engine and wanting a big Floyd-style evening in Brno should mark this date.

For the record: Brno isn't the only place where Floyd's music will sound this autumn. The symphonic show Floyds CZ/SK heads to Zlín and České Budějovice, and Pink Floyd Forever plays in Kroměříž. You'll find the overview further down in the article.

Who is Floyd Division and why Austrians take them seriously

Floyd Division was founded in 2009 in Vienna, and over the years it has become one of the most cited Floyd bands in Central Europe. The large lineup isn't for show, it's for the sound.

The band itself states on its YouTube channel that it was founded in 2009 in Vienna, and organizers at home like to call it Austria's number one. That's obviously promotional talk. What's more interesting is what others write about it. Vienna's Kurier praised the musically and visually accomplished performance with the round screen and video projection, adding that the band brings "spürbaren Enthusiasmus", meaning noticeable enthusiasm. According to the paper, that's exactly what sets its show apart from tribute bands that copy the sound and visuals perfectly yet still leave the audience cold. The Passau newspaper Passauer Neue Presse ranks it among the most established tribute bands in Europe.

And how many members are there really? It depends who you ask. Kurier wrote about an eleven-member band, while organizers' texts mention twelve members. According to the same texts, they've already played concerts in Austria, Germany, Belgium, Switzerland and Czechia. The Saxon newspaper Freie Presse described their multimedia show on the lake stage in Kriebstein, attended by roughly twelve hundred people.

Interested in names? The lineup listed for the 2016 concert in Dornbirn, Austria, looked like this: Gilmour's vocal parts were sung by Roman Bischof, guitars were handled by Thomas Scherrer and Geri Cuba, bass was played by Florian Aschauer, keyboards by Markus Herwig, and drums by Otmar Dangl. Saxophonist Ingo Beer took on the parts originally played by Dick Parry, and backing vocals were sung by Gitti Guggenbichler and Sandra Kren. In a band that's been running for over fifteen years, members naturally rotate, so check the current lineup for Brno on floyddivision.at.

There's a nice human detail in an older promotional material from the band. Each member admitted their favorite Pink Floyd song. Guitarist Geri Cuba named Hey You, saxophonist Ingo Beer named Run Like Hell, and a keyboardist from that lineup named Sorrow, a song from the late, Gilmour-era period that many fans overlook. So this crew isn't just a greatest-hits jukebox. By the way, in 2014 and 2015 they toured with a program called "Best of P.U.L.S.E", based on Pink Floyd's last official live album.

Why Pink Floyd still fills halls even though they no longer play

The album without which this band, and the whole tribute scene, wouldn't exist has never stopped being listened to. And in Czechia, that's joined by the memory of one single evening at Strahov.

Let's start with numbers, because for Dark Side of the Moon they're almost absurd. According to Billboard, the album, on the chart dated January 10, 2026, had racked up its 996th week on the American Billboard 200, not counted consecutively. Altogether that's more than nineteen years. Yet it stayed at the top for a single week, in April 1973. Its strength was never in one burst of popularity, people simply keep listening to it. Music media wrote this year about another wave of interest, driven by vinyl collectors and young listeners who came across the album through atmospheric videos on social media.

So why not the original band? Here it pays to be precise, because connoisseurs notice. Gilmour, Wright and Mason took the band off the road after the successful tour for The Division Bell in 1994. Then came the Live 8 concert on July 2, 2005, in London's Hyde Park, where after twenty-four years all four, including Waters, reunited for one afternoon and played four songs. After Richard Wright's death in 2008, another classic lineup was out of the question. Gilmour and Mason, still under the name Pink Floyd, released the album The Endless River in 2014, made up of unused recordings from The Division Bell sessions. In 2022 came the single Hey Hey Rise Up in support of Ukraine. But they're not planning a tour: Gilmour already said in a 2021 interview for Guitar Player about touring with Floyd, "I'm done with it."

And now the Czech anchor. When Pink Floyd played Strahov on September 7, 1994, according to Novinky it was one of the biggest music events after the Velvet Revolution. They played as a trio, Gilmour, Wright and Mason, and iROZHLAS notes that including two encores, twenty-two songs were played. The first part belonged largely to the then-fresh album The Division Bell, and the audience really got going only after the break, when Time, Wish You Were Here, Money and Another Brick in the Wall came. At the end, Gilmour said goodbye to the crowd in Czech: nashledanou.

This very memory explains why Floyd revivals work so well here. For part of the audience, it's a return to Strahov. For the younger ones, it's the only chance to experience how that music sounds loud and with visuals. Everything played around Floyd's music in Czechia, we cover on the Pink Floyd profile.

Sono Centrum: a round screen inside a sphere

Brno's Sono Centrum is one of the few venues where a round Floyd screen has a logical neighbor: the concert hall is hidden inside a white sphere. For music built on space and quiet passages, it's a fitting environment.

The building was designed by Brno architect František Šmédek, and its visual dominant feature is precisely the sphere in which concerts take place. Locals nickname it various things for its unusual shape, among others "Death Star" after the Star Wars station. Šmédek admitted in an interview for Archspace that spherical elements appeal to him and that he keeps experimenting with circular shapes. Try to picture it: a band whose signature is a circular screen plays in a hall that is itself a circle. A coincidence, but a rather nice one.

For Floyd's music it matters that this isn't a hall or a stadium. In a large venue you're glad if you can even make out the screen. In a club-sized hall like this one, you can see the musicians' fingers up close and still have enough space for the projection to make sense. Whether the hall will be set up standing, seated, or combined for the Floyd Division concert, you'll find out when buying your ticket. Sono holds events in various configurations.

What to expect from the concert and how to enjoy it

No specific setlist for Brno has been published, so we won't promise anything. But it helps to know what the band's previous concerts looked like, and a few practical habits that work well on Floyd evenings.

Reviews of past concerts give a general picture. A reviewer of one show described roughly three hours of typical Floyd sound and a program centered on The Dark Side of the Moon. Austrian organizers, meanwhile, advertise big hits "in psychedelischer Manier", meaning in a psychedelic spirit. Whether it will be the same in Brno, you'll see on the spot. Generally, though, an evening like this rarely goes by without songs from Dark Side, Wish You Were Here and The Wall, because those are exactly what the audience wants.

A few tips that come in handy:

  • Think about your view of the screen. The projection is half the experience with Floyd Division. If you can choose your spot, choose one from which you can see the whole round surface, not just the heads in front of you.
  • Arrive on time. Floyd songs often open with sound textures and ambient noise. Anyone pushing through the crowd in the first minutes will miss the atmosphere the whole evening is built on.
  • Buy officially. Tickets go through GoOut, and you'll find the link on the event page. Tickets resold through social media are a lottery not worth betting on.
  • It's a Sunday. Anyone traveling from far should keep in mind that Monday morning comes early. Plan your trip home in advance.
  • Play Pulse beforehand. Anyone who wants to know how Pink Floyd's late concerts sounded, including the round screen, will find everything essential on that recording. The band has also toured with a program based directly on it in the past.

And one tip for connoisseurs: don't compare it to the 1994 stadium tour. A tribute band doesn't have that kind of budget, and it doesn't pretend to. The value of the evening lies elsewhere. You hear those songs played live and loud by people who love them just as much as you do. And a guitarist who names Hey You as his favorite song probably won't play that Comfortably Numb solo as an afterthought.

Pink Floyd live elsewhere in Czechia this autumn

The Brno concert is just one form in which Floyd's music sounds this autumn. From late September to mid-October, you can choose between a club evening and a symphonic show.

If you don't want to limit yourself to Pink Floyd Brno, here's what's in our calendar:

Each format offers something different. The club concert is closer and rawer. The symphonic show relies on an orchestral sound that suits Floyd's sweeping textures more than you might expect. Floyd Division bets on visuals and the most faithful rendition of the original arrangements. We keep adding further dates to the concerts overview and to the event calendar.

Frequently asked questions

Will the real Pink Floyd come to Brno?

No, they won't. The band stopped touring regularly after the 1994 tour, last reunited in the classic lineup at Live 8 in 2005, and after Richard Wright's death in 2008 further joint concerts were out of the question. Gilmour and Mason did release The Endless River and the single Hey Hey Rise Up, but they never returned to the stage. This year, Pink Floyd Brno means a concert by Vienna's Floyd Division.

When and where is the Floyd Division concert in Brno?

It takes place on Sunday, November 22, 2026, at Sono Centrum in Brno. Tickets are sold through GoOut, and you'll find the link on our event page.

Does it make sense to go to a tribute concert when you already know the original from the records?

If you're not expecting Gilmour, then definitely yes. A recording can't give you the physical sensation of Time played loud, or of a long guitar solo in a hall where everyone around you stops moving for a moment. Floyd Division has a reputation in the press for sticking to the original arrangements and playing with enthusiasm, and for a lot of people today, it's the closest thing to hearing that music live.

Will it be enjoyable for someone who barely knows Pink Floyd?

Most likely yes. Floyd concerts of this kind are built around the best-known songs, and the visuals help even those who don't know their way around the discography. Just listen to Dark Side of the Moon and Wish You Were Here beforehand, and you'll recognize most of the melodies.
