About

XIII. století ("13th Century") is a gothic rock band from Jihlava, Czech Republic, founded in 1990 by brothers Petr and Pavel Štěpán from the ashes of their punk group HNF (Hrdinové nové fronty). Frontman Petr Štěpán - songwriter, poet and author - shaped the band's distinctive voice: dark romanticism with mythological and supernatural themes, sung entirely in Czech. Their 1992 debut Amulet effectively defined Czech gothic rock, and the band has since built a loyal following across the Czech Republic, Poland and Germany.
