Wolfgang Beltracchi is a German painter and former art forger, widely considered one of the most prolific art fraudsters of the 20th century. For decades he produced works passed off as originals by famous modernist masters, leading to his conviction in 2011. Since his release he has focused on original work, developing a style he calls "Free Method Painting" rooted in deep knowledge of European painting tradition.
