Vašek z Aše, born Václav Ponikelský in 2002, is a Czech slam poet from the western Bohemian town of Aš, now based in Prague where he studies at KALD DAMU. He is a two-time Czech vice-champion (2021, 2022) and the first Czech slammer to make a significant mark internationally, winning bronze at the 2023 European Slam Championship. He performs with nothing but his own texts and his voice.
Vašek from Aš performed at the Slam Poetry Show at the Municipal Swimming Pool in Jindřichův Hradec (August 9, 2025).
A solo performance by Vašek from Aš is planned at the Exil Theatre in Pardubice (October 16, 2025).
In November 2025, Vašek from Aš will perform at the Poezie, vole fest festival at Cross Club in Prague and at the Poetry Day in Havlíčkův Brod.
Vašek from Aš completed his first solo tour through Czech cities - Prague, Plzeň, Ostrava, and Brno.
After winning a bronze medal at the 2023 European Championship, Vašek from Aš gave an interview to DVTV and was featured in the ČT Artzóna program about 20 years of Czech slam poetry.
