Ethnographic Festival of Kyjov Dolňácko in Milotice
An ethnographic festival at Milotice Castle showcasing the traditions of Kyjov Dolňácko through live music, dance, and local customs.
Varmužova cimbálová muzika is a family folk ensemble from Svatobořice-Mistřín in South Moravia, founded in 1964 by brothers Josef and Pavel Varmuža. Their repertoire centres on the songs and dances of the Kyjov region, though they also draw on folk traditions from Slovakia, Hungary and Romania. Since the mid-1980s the band has been an entirely family affair, and it ranks among the leading cimbalom ensembles in Moravia. The brothers' classical training never dulled the raw, natural sound that sets them apart on the Czech folk scene.
VCM performed at the renewed International Folklore Festival Mistřín 2025 and accompanied the Slovácký Ensemble Svatobořice-Mistřín.
Varmužova cimbálová muzika appeared in July 2025 in the program Za našima humny on ČT2.
In April 2024, the muzika celebrated sixty years of existence with a jubilee concert in the cultural center in Svatobořicích-Mistříně, which was filled to capacity.
