About

Václav Uhlíř (born 1954 in Hradec Králové) is a Czech organist, organologist and music educator. He studied at the Music Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague under professors Jiří Reinberger and Milan Šlechta, and has served as organist and choirmaster at the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary in Hradec Králové since 1970. His discography runs to nearly 30 titles, and he is the guarantor of the Vzkříšené varhany (Resurrected Organs) project, dedicated to documenting and presenting restored historic organs across the Hradec Králové region. In 2008 Pope Benedict XVI awarded him the Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice cross for his decades of service to the organs of the diocese.
