Ultra-minimal-ballet (UMB) is an independent Czech ensemble of professional dancers, founded in 2008 by choreographer Alena Pešková. The group works with deliberately minimal means - small spaces, spare music, few performers - and from that builds contemporary dance theatre. Its productions include the dance horror Jessie and Morgiana and an adaptation of Andersen's The Little Match Girl, with collaborators drawn from the National Theatre and other leading Czech companies.
