About

The Village People are an American disco group formed in 1977 by French producers Jacques Morali and Henri Belolo in New York's Greenwich Village. Each member embodies a distinct male archetype - cop, cowboy, construction worker, soldier, Native American chief and biker - and the group became one of the most recognisable acts of the disco era. Hits such as Y.M.C.A., Macho Man and In the Navy have sold over 100 million records worldwide. Since 2017 the group has been led by Victor Willis, who wrote most of their biggest songs.
